About Transport Exchange Group
Established in 1999, the Transport Exchange Group (“TEG”) operates two of the UK’s largest, busiest and fastest growing independent freight exchanges, Haulage Exchange and Courier Exchange. It is now, by some distance, the leading provider of managed freight exchange services for the domestic road transport industry.
With over 2,000 active members running some 10,000 vehicles and moving 300,000 loads nationwide, Transport Exchange Group has a successful and proven track record of tackling some of the most common and difficult challenges facing the road transport industry today. These include:
Our Exchanges provide our members with an online, real time, user-friendly transaction and communication hub, with which they can offset these challenges and drive continued and profitable growth, despite increasingly tough operating conditions.
Transport Exchange Group is a privately held company, headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
Mission Statement
The Exchange platform has three main objectives:
- To enable members to trade loads and journeys and to source available empty or part-filled vehicles returning to base.
- To provide users with a fully specified “transactional hub” which facilitates seamless electronic trading from order confirmation through to invoice approval and beyond.
- To provide a safe environment for collaborative working which benefits both members and the environment.
With transport industry conditions likely to deteriorate further and operating margins likely to come under even more pressure, we believe that the industry will become increasingly polarised over the next few years. In our opinion, the winners are likely to be those players that recognise early the benefits of collaboration, and actively use our journey hub, to buy and sell spare capacity, reduce dead mileage, eliminate empty or light running and increase backload profitability.
While other freight exchanges have come and gone, ours have stayed the distance and gone from strength to strength. This successful track record in managing exchanges, and in delivering significant efficiency, scale and financial benefits to our users, is due to a number of differentiating factors.
Our Exchanges are:
- Genuinely neutral and independent
- Actively managed on a full time basis
- Strictly quality controlled via an internal accreditation system
We believe that our success and longevity in the market is also a function of the significant financial investment we have made in our technology platform to date, as well as the investment we continue to make in response to the needs and requirements of our members. Our long term commitment to the freight market reflects our strongly held belief that future growth and profitability will increasingly be driven by collaborative exchange-based trading. Using the platforms that we have successfully developed, transport trade professionals can collaborate effectively for mutual benefit, accessing an enormous “on-demand” network of accredited transport and logistics operators. |
